On My Feet Today: September 14th 2017.
In 1994 Reebok we're one of the successful shoe brands with the "Pumps". Atlanta Hawks basketball star Dominic Wilkins helped made the shoe popular with his classic commercials. Nike was just dominating throughout the 1990's. With many star athletes promoting their products, business was 'BIG'. In 1994 Michael Jordan was a retired NBA star after winning 3 NBA championship in row with the Chicago Bulls. Jordan went on to play Baseball with the Chicago White Sox, he later returned to the Chicago Bulls in 1995. The Air Jordan IX was released in 1994 and with this being the first shoe from the Nike/Jordan without Michael Jordan in the NBA, this was perfect timing for Reebok to get close to another NBA dominator, the "Reign Man" himself, Shawn Kemp. Who even before Shaquille O'Neal was of the most offensive players and mostly known for his famous dunks. The Reebok Kamikaze was released in 1994 with Shawn Kemp the star representing the shoe, the same year kemp played in USA National Team winning a gold medal. The Reebok Kamikaze was an instant hit with its zig zag lines, creative designs. The colours blend so well together and things help it stand out. Things we're looking bright for the"Reign Man" Shawn Kemp. There are many videos and photographs of Kemp playing on the court and doing what he did best, dunking with The Reebok Kamikaze's on his feet. In 1996 Reebok Kamikaze II (I will leave that for another time because I own that shoe too) I bought the Reebok Kamikaze as they released as an retro in 2014 and this was a daily shoe for me for a while. The shoe has been in my shoe storage, untouched since 2015 but will surely be worn regularly during this fall 2017.
Thanks for reading and here are a few images of the Reebok Kamikaze's below.....
